Our service approach is tailored to make sure that when we complete the project, you are completely happy with the design since you’ll be the ones living here day in and day out. So yes, we absolutely can work with your design to make sure you’re completely happy. We’ll bring in our expertise as far as the construction end goes to make sure this project lasts for years to come.
Yes, that’s completely understandable. Where do you have the cleaning nets? We’ll be sure to have those on hand and clean any debris that may accidentally fall in. We set up our work table and saws to operate as far away from the pond as possible and plan all of our cuts at the work station rather than the standard practice of cutting the deck boards once they are laid out on the structure. We want to take extra care and make extra effort to ensure their safety.
Great question! What we can do is protect the sub-structure of the deck and bridge with a waterproof membrane. The deck surface itself can be stained if you’d like and that would preserve it as well, but keep in mind that staining will require additional maintenance coats every 2-3 years. If you choose not to stain it, the good news is that because of the added protection to the sub-structure you can replace the deck boards and re-use the sub-structure.

Great, because that’s the last thing we would want as well! We work closely with a certified arborist and will consult him to ensure we avoid any permanent damage to the tree. Whatever we come across during the excavation will be documented and you will also be kept in the loop every step of the way.
Thank you for allowing us to have an open canvas on this custom design. As unique as this cedar retaining wall will be, we’ll be employing ingenuity to ensure the construction will make it last for years to come. We’ll be burying posts 4ft into the ground every 3ft apart. This is well above and beyond standard construction for such a wall and even more reliable than your standard retaining wall.
That’s a common issue ever since the City stopped allowing residents to allow the water to discharge into City basins. Here’s one way we solve that issue: we redirect the downspout underground, away from the foundation of the house or any other structure (typically 16 ft away from the home); bury it underground; dig a huge hole that we line with filter fabric and fill with gravel; the water will discharge here and be absorbed into the ground.

Great question! As you know armour stone is natural stone. It is also available with smooth cuts on the sides, but there will be a natural face to it on at least 2 sides. Not one stone is completely identical to the other, as a result guaranteeing that it will be 100% even everywhere is not something we can do unfortunately. However, every effort will be made to not only make it as even as possible but also tasteful in design and functional as a retaining wall.
Not all retaining walls require a permit. We work closely with engineers to ensure we build your project with the best practices in mind. Your investment should be treated no other way. There is a risk with not obtaining permits, which happens when one least expects it. Sometimes neighbours call the City officials to ensure that a permit has been obtained if it was required. Then we’d have to shut the site down until we can obtain drawings & a permit. Ultimately this will cost you more because we’ll need to charge a minimum per day every day we are forced to shut down. We always let you know when a permit is required.
